Desert weddings provide an ambiance that is both ancient and very much related to the Indian culture. Weddings are typically initiated by a friendly reception – folk musicians, lantern-lit entry ways, or even camel trains depending on the degree of traditionalism desired by the couple. None of this seems to be excessive in the desert, as even the most basic touch becomes something special due to the setting.
The majority of the ceremonies are held at sunset when the sky is softened to orange and pink and the light is just right without any excessive decoration. Some couples choose open mandaps on the dunes, others prefer courtyard setups inside heritage desert stays. The textures of the desert—sand, breeze, wide sky—blend beautifully with both traditional and modern themes.
