Rambagh Palace was built in 1835 and became the residence of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II and Maharani Gayatri Devi before opening as a hotel. It sits on 47 acres of Mughal gardens on Bhawani Singh Road, in the middle of Jaipur rather than on the Kukas belt, and it is classified as a Taj Palace hotel, the group’s highest tier.

Twelve event spaces are spread across the gardens and the palace itself, which is what lets a full wedding sequence run here without anything feeling squeezed. Naksha Garden is the headline space at 95,875 sq ft, holding up to 2,000 guests. It is the largest lawn on the estate and takes the pheras or the reception against the palace facade.

Mughal Garden is the second lawn at 23,508 sq ft for up to 1,000. On its own it would be the main lawn at most Jaipur venues. Panghat Lawn, with its pavilion and amphitheatre, takes 350, and the Sunken Lawn takes 200. Indoors, Maharaja Mahal holds up to 800 under high ceilings and crystal chandeliers, which is unusually large for a heritage palace and means a monsoon or winter wedding does not have to move outdoors under cover. Maharani Mahal takes 450.

Smaller spaces cover the rest. Chandra Mahal with its painted domed ceiling and the Oriental Terrace both take 50, suited to an intimate mehendi or a family dinner. Chambers of Princes and Sabha Niwas take 14 each and work as planning rooms.

The stay runs to 78 rooms and suites with butler service, from a 350 sq ft Luxury Room to an 1,800 sq ft Grand Presidential Suite. Worth knowing plainly: the palace operates as a live hotel, so lawn availability between October and February competes with in-house guests. Book early. Worth knowing before you plan: catering and alcohol are in-house only, and decorators must come from Taj’s approved panel. Outside DJs are permitted. Parking runs to 100 cars, which is modest for a 2,000-guest lawn, so guest transport needs planning.

Rambagh sits 10.5 km from Jaipur International Airport and 4.3 km from Jaipur Junction, both under half an hour. Being central rather than on the Delhi Road means guests can visit the City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Albert Hall Museum without a long drive, which is a real advantage on a multi-day Destination Wedding in Jaipur.

October to March is the window. Days stay pleasant and evenings cool enough for the gardens to run late. April to June gets too hot for afternoon functions in the open. Through the monsoon, Maharaja Mahal carries the indoor load comfortably. December and January book out very early here, so plan twelve months ahead.
