About Shiv Vilas, Jaipur

Shiv Vilas is a 32-acre palace-themed resort at Kukas on the Jaipur–Delhi highway, with the Aravalli range behind it. It opened in 2006, so the palace architecture is a build rather than a restoration, which means modern electricals, proper power backup and service corridors where a genuine heritage property would have none.

Scale is what Shiv Vilas is for. The resort takes up to 5,000 guests seated and 7,500 standing, which puts it at the top of the Jaipur market alongside Mundota and The Galaxy. The polo ground is the reason. It seats 5,000 on its own, and there is a mini polo ground alongside it holding 1,000 seated or 1,500 standing. Between them they take a baraat and reception at a scale almost nothing else near Jaipur can match.

The Front Lawn is the third large outdoor space at 1,000 seated and 1,500 standing, which at most venues would be the main lawn. The resort has four lawns in total across the 32 acres.

Indoors, the Presidential Grand Ball Room runs to 9,900 sq ft and holds up to 500. It is the weather backup and the usual setting for a sangeet. The Chancery takes 100 theatre style or 48 in clusters, and the Chancellor is a 20-seat boardroom. Two smaller outdoor settings round it out. The poolside takes 100 seated or 150 standing for a cocktail evening, and there is a helipad area used the same way, which doubles as a genuine helicopter landing for a baraat entry.

The stay runs to 125 rooms and suites across seven categories, from a 342 sq ft Elegant Room to a 2,200 sq ft Maharaja Suite. A full buyout of all 125 rooms with exclusive use of the venues is a package the resort offers.

Worth knowing before you plan: catering, decor and alcohol are all in-house and outside vendors are not permitted. Overnight weddings are allowed, with a slot running from 8 am through to 6 am, which is unusual and useful if your muhurat falls at 3 am. There are no air-conditioned changing rooms, which matters across a 32-acre site in summer. Shiv Vilas sits about 38 km from Jaipur International Airport and 24 km from Jaipur Junction, roughly an hour and forty minutes respectively. It is on the same Kukas belt as Le Méridien and The Jaibagh Palace, so guests get Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort nearby without city traffic on a Destination Wedding in Jaipur.

October to March is the window. Days stay pleasant and evenings cool enough for the polo ground and lawns to run late. April to June gets too hot for afternoon functions in the open. Through the monsoon the Grand Ball Room carries the indoor load, though at 500 it cannot absorb a 2,000-guest function, so covered structures on the lawns are the practical answer. December and January book out early, so plan eight to twelve months ahead.

Destination Weddings India works directly with the property and manages venue booking, room blocks, decor and on-ground coordination end to end.
