About Chomu Palace, Jaipur
Chomu Palace was founded in 1550 by Rao Gopalji, fourth son of Raja Prithviraj Singhji of Jaipur, and the Chomu thikana is a collateral branch of the Samode fiefdom. The palace sits on 6 acres at Chomu on Sikar Road, laid out according to vastushastra principles. What separates Chomu from most heritage hotels is the restoration approach. The interiors were kept rather than replaced, so the frescoes, carved wooden furniture and original detailing are the real thing instead of a contemporary hotel dressed in Rajput style. For photography, that difference shows.
Thirteen event spaces run across the palace, which is unusual for a 6-acre footprint and means a full wedding sequence moves through genuinely different settings rather than the same lawn redressed. Manoharpole Garden is the largest at 11,900 sq ft, the front lawn, taking 400 seated or 600 standing. It handles the pheras or the reception with the palace facade behind it.
Mani Chowk, the main courtyard, is the signature space at 11,500 sq ft for 300 seated. Enclosed by historic architecture on all sides, it is where most couples put the pheras. Chaar Bagh, the back lawn, takes 200 seated across 10,000 sq ft, and Pratishtha, the terrace, takes 300. Indoors, Mantrana is the banquet hall at 5,200 sq ft and the largest covered space. Swai Man Mahal takes 300 seated, and Chattis Dari is the hall of 36 carved pillars, a piece of Rajputana architecture that works better as a setting than as a seated venue. The smaller spaces are where Chomu earns its reputation. Sheesh Mahal takes 80, Darbar Hall 120, Baradari Mandap 100 under a traditional mandap structure, and the poolside 100. Rawla Courtyard is the ladies-only courtyard at 75 seated, which is a genuinely useful space for a mehendi where the women want privacy.
The stay runs to 100 rooms and suites: 54 Historic Suites, 23 Royal Suites, 19 Palace Suites, 2 Maharani Suites and 2 Maharaja Suites. Every room is a suite category, which is rare at this price level. Worth knowing before you plan: catering is in-house, with a dedicated Jain menu alongside North Indian, South Indian, Rajasthani and Gujarati options. Outside decorators are permitted. Parking is complimentary for 100 cars with valet service, and there is a bridal dressing room.
Chomu sits about 46 km from Jaipur International Airport, roughly an hour and twenty minutes, on the Sikar Road side rather than the Delhi Road belt. It is further out than most Destination Wedding in Jaipur properties. Samode Palace is close by, so the two are sometimes combined for larger guest lists.
October to March is the window. Days stay pleasant and evenings cool enough for the courtyard and lawns to run late. April to June gets too hot for afternoon functions in the open. Through the monsoon, Mantrana and Swai Man Mahal carry the indoor load. December and January book out early, so plan eight to twelve months ahead.
Destination Weddings India works directly with the property and manages venue booking, room blocks, decor and on-ground coordination end to end.
