Getting 200 guests to your wedding is easy in some destinations and genuinely hard in others. Amritsar has an airport 11 km from the city, with direct flights from as far as London. Ranthambore has no airport at all. Guests land in Jaipur and drive three hours.

That gap decides your arrival schedule, your transfer budget, and how many elderly relatives actually come. Here are airport distances, direct flights, rail links and drive times from Delhi for twelve destinations, plus how far each airport really is from the venues.

Which Indian wedding destinations are easiest for guests to reach?

The easiest destinations for guests are Jaipur, Amritsar, Jodhpur and Goa. All four have their own airports with daily direct flights from several Indian cities.

The hardest are Ranthambore and Pushkar. Neither has a commercial airport of its own, so guests face a road transfer of one to three hours after landing.

Which destination suits your guest list?

The right destination usually comes down to where most of your guests are flying from.

If most guests travel fromStrongest optionsWhy
Delhi and NCRAgra, Rishikesh, JaipurAll under 5 hours by road, and Agra is 1h 40m by train
MumbaiGoa, Jaipur, UdaipurGoa has 10 to 12 daily flights, Jaipur 7 to 8
Bengaluru and the southGoa, JaipurGoa has 7 to 9 daily flights, Jaipur 4 to 5
Kolkata or the eastGoa, Jaipur, AmritsarAll have daily direct services
The UKAmritsarThe only destination with direct flights from London and Birmingham
The GulfJaipur, Goa, AmritsarAll three have direct flights, so no domestic connection
Several cities at onceJaipur, GoaThe widest domestic networks, so fewer guests need connections

If your guest list is split between India and abroad, Jaipur and Goa give you the most direct routes from both, which usually means fewer missed connections.

Rajasthan

Getting Your Guests There 1

Getting to Jaipur by air, train and road

Jaipur International Airport (JAI) sits 10 to 13 km from central Jaipur, in the southern suburb of Sanganer, and it is the best connected airport in Rajasthan. For guests flying from anywhere in India, this is the most straightforward arrival point in the state.

Direct flights: Delhi (5 to 6 a day, 1h 05m), Mumbai (7 to 8 a day, 1h 55m), Bengaluru (4 to 5 a day, 2h 35m), Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Pune, Guwahati, Chennai, Indore and Lucknow.

International: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Muscat and Bangkok.

By train: Jaipur Junction (JP) is in the heart of the city. The Vande Bharat Express (26482) takes 3h 50m from Delhi Cantt.

By road: around 4h 49m from Delhi, covering 310 km via NE 4.

Best wedding venues near Jaipur airport

Jaipur has the widest spread of any destination here. A city palace is 20 minutes from the airport, while the heritage estates north of the city are closer to an hour and a half.

If you are booking Samode, tell guests to allow a full 90 minutes for the transfer and avoid late evening arrivals.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Jaipur.

Getting to Udaipur by air, train and road

Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR), also called Dabok Airport, is 22 to 24 km east of central Udaipur. That is a longer transfer than most Rajasthan destinations, and it matters when guests are arriving on the day of a mehndi or sangeet.

Direct flights: Delhi (5 a day, 1h 20m), Mumbai (4 to 5 a day, 1h 40m), Jaipur, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

By train: Udaipur City station (UDZ) is about 2.5 km from the centre, but the journey from Delhi is long. The fastest services take 12h 15m overnight.

By road: 11h 19m from Delhi over 721 km. Flying is the practical option for most guests.

Best wedding venues near Udaipur airport

Udaipur’s transfers are all comfortably under 45 minutes, and the lake properties take longer than you might expect because the route runs through the city.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Udaipur.

Getting to Jodhpur by air, train and road

Jodhpur Airport (JDH) is just 3.2 to 5 km from the city centre, the shortest airport transfer of any Rajasthan wedding destination. For guests arriving on the morning of a function, it is the most forgiving arrival point in the state.

Direct flights: Delhi (2 a day, 1h 25m), Mumbai (2 a day, 1h 45m), Jaipur, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. A Navi Mumbai route was due to begin on 25 October 2026.

By train: Jodhpur Junction (JU) sits centrally on Station Road. The overnight service from Delhi Sarai Rohilla takes about 10h 55m.

By road: 10h 23m from Delhi over 661 km.

Best wedding venues near Jodhpur airport

Jodhpur has the biggest contrast of any destination here. City properties are under 20 minutes from the airport, while the desert fort is nearly two hours.

Umaid Bhawan is nine minutes from the terminal, which is as close as any wedding venue in India gets. Khimsar is a different proposition entirely and needs a day-before arrival.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Jodhpur.

Getting to Jaisalmer by air, train and road

Jaisalmer Airport (JSA) is 13 to 14 km southeast of the city, but only four direct flights arrive each day and there is no alternative airport nearby. A cancelled flight has no same day recovery option, so build a spare day into your guest schedule.

Direct flights: Delhi (3 a day, 1h 35m) and Mumbai (1 a day, 1h 55m) only. Guests from other cities will connect, usually through Delhi.

By train: Jaisalmer station (JSM) is served from Delhi by the Howrah Bikaner Superfast (12371) in 13h 40m.

By road: 12h 54m from Delhi over 757 km via NH 11.

Best wedding venues near Jaisalmer airport

Both properties are under 20 minutes from the airport, so the transfer is not the constraint here. The flight schedule is.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Jaisalmer.

Getting to Bikaner by air, train and road

Bikaner Airport, also known as Nal Airport (BKB), is about 13 km from the city, but it takes just one direct flight a day from Delhi. With that little air service, rail and road are the more reliable options for most guests.

Direct flights: Delhi (1 a day, 1h 20m) and Jaipur (Alliance Air).

By train: Bikaner Junction (BKN) is centrally located on Station Road. The overnight service from Delhi Sarai Rohilla takes 7h 50m.

By road: 8h 11m from Delhi over 432 km via NH 11.

Best wedding venues near Bikaner airport

All three heritage palaces sit within half a kilometre of each other in transfer terms, roughly 25 minutes from the airport.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Bikaner.

Getting to Pushkar by air, train and road

Pushkar has no airport of its own. The nearest is Kishangarh Airport (KQH), also called Ajmer Airport, about 28 to 34 km away. Jaipur International is the main alternative at roughly 150 km, which adds a significant drive after landing.

By train: most guests arrive at Ajmer Junction (AII), 11 to 15 km from Pushkar. The Vande Bharat Express (20978) takes 5h 30m from Delhi Cantt, and the Ajmer Shatabdi (12015) takes 6h 40m from New Delhi.

By road: 7h 47m from Delhi over 491 km via NE 4.

Best wedding venues near Pushkar

Transfers from Kishangarh range from half an hour to a full hour depending on which side of Pushkar the property sits.

Guests routing through Jaipur instead face roughly 150 km by road on top of their flight, so Kishangarh is worth checking first.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Pushkar.

Getting to Ranthambore by air, train and road

Ranthambore has no airport. Guests who fly land at Jaipur International, then drive between two and three hours depending on the property. That is the longest airport transfer of any destination in this guide, and the train is usually faster.

By train: Sawai Madhopur station (SWM) is about 14 km from the park gate, and the AK Tejas Rajdhani (12954) reaches it from Hazrat Nizamuddin in just 3h 33m.

By road: driving direct from Delhi takes 5h 43m over 374 km via NE 4, which still beats flying to Jaipur and transferring.

Best wedding venues near Ranthambore

Every Ranthambore property means a long road transfer from Jaipur, though Fort Barwara cuts nearly forty minutes off the others.

For a Delhi based guest list, the train to Sawai Madhopur is the better recommendation for all three.

North India and the hills

Getting Your Guests There 2

Getting to Agra by air, train and road

Agra is 3h 55m by road from Delhi and 1h 40m by train, which makes it the easiest wedding destination in India for a Delhi based guest list. Guests can travel on the morning of a function and arrive comfortably.

Agra Airport, also known as Kheria Airport (AGR), is 5 to 6.5 km from the city centre, but commercial flights are very limited. Currently only Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai, at 0 to 1 flights a day.

By train: the Vande Bharat Express (22470) reaches Agra Cantt from Hazrat Nizamuddin in 1h 40m, and the Gatimaan Express (12050) matches it.

By road: 232 km via the Yamuna Expressway, the shortest drive of any destination here.

Best wedding venues near Agra

All three venues sit within half an hour of Agra airport and within a short drive of Agra Cantt station, which is how most guests will actually arrive.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Agra.

Getting to Jim Corbett by air, train and road

The nearest airport to Jim Corbett is Pantnagar (PGH), and every resort is roughly two hours further by road. Pantnagar takes direct flights only from Delhi and Noida International, so most guests arrive by road or rail instead.

Direct flights: Delhi (1 a day, 1h 00m) and Noida International (1 a day, 0h 50m).

By train: Ramnagar station (RMR) is much closer at 12 to 15 km from the main park gates. The Kathgodam Shatabdi (02040) takes 5h 20m from New Delhi.

By road: 5h 43m from Delhi over 275 km via NH 9.

Best wedding venues near Jim Corbett

All three resorts sit around 90 km from Pantnagar, near enough two hours by road. There is no short transfer option in Corbett.

Given that every option means a two hour drive after landing, most guests are better off travelling by road from Delhi directly.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Jim Corbett.

Getting to Rishikesh by air, train and road

Rishikesh is served by Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport (DED), with 6 to 9 direct flights a day from Delhi. That is the highest frequency of any destination in this guide, which makes it forgiving if a guest’s plans change late.

Direct flights: Delhi (6 to 9 a day, 0h 55m), Mumbai (3 a day, 2h 30m), Bengaluru (1 to 3 a day), Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata and Lucknow.

By train: Yog Nagari Rishikesh (YNRK) sits in the town itself. Haridwar Junction (HW) is the larger hub with more frequent services, about 5 hours from Hazrat Nizamuddin.

By road: 4h 15m from Delhi over 242 km.

Best wedding venues near Rishikesh

Rishikesh transfers vary more than the short flight time suggests. The riverside properties upstream add a significant drive.

A 55 minute flight from Delhi followed by a 90 minute drive is still a half day for guests. Plan arrivals accordingly.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Rishikesh.

Getting to Amritsar by air, train and road

Amritsar is the only wedding destination in India with direct flights from the United Kingdom, and its airport sits about 11 km from the city centre. Air India flies from London Gatwick and Birmingham, both around 11h 28m, which removes a domestic connection entirely for UK guests.

Other international routes: Dubai, Sharjah, Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi from 25 October 2026.

Direct domestic flights: Delhi (9 to 11 a day, 1h 15m), Mumbai (3 to 4 a day), Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Srinagar.

By train: Amritsar Junction (ASR) is central. The Swarn Shatabdi (12029) takes 6h 25m from New Delhi.

By road: 7h 05m from Delhi over 454 km via NE 5.

Best wedding venues near Amritsar airport

Amritsar has the shortest transfers of any destination here, which matters when guests are stepping off an eleven hour flight from London.

A six minute transfer after a long haul flight is a genuine advantage for elderly guests and young children.

Goa

Getting Your Guests There 3

Getting to Goa: which airport, plus train and road

Goa has two airports on opposite sides of the state, and the right one depends on where your venue sits. Dabolim International (GOI) is in South Goa, about 26 to 30 km from Panaji. Manohar International (GOX) at Mopa is in North Goa, roughly 35 km from Panaji.

Tell guests which airport to book before they buy tickets. Landing at the wrong one can add well over an hour of driving.

Direct flights: Goa has the widest network here. Mumbai (10 to 12 a day), Bengaluru (7 to 9 a day), Delhi (7 to 8 a day, 2h 35m), Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Indore, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Kochi, Coimbatore, Chandigarh and Lucknow.

International: Dubai, Bahrain, Moscow and Yekaterinburg.

By train: Madgaon Junction (MAO) is the main station. The Rajdhani (12432) takes just over 24 hours from Hazrat Nizamuddin.

By road: 32h 29m from Delhi over 1,925 km, which is not realistic for guests.

Best wedding venues near Goa airports

Which airport your guests book depends on where your venue sits. South Goa properties are served by Dabolim, North Goa by Mopa.

Put the correct airport on your invitation. A guest who lands at the wrong one faces a cross-state drive of well over an hour.

See all options in our guide to a destination wedding in Goa.

Guests flying in from abroad

Only one Indian wedding destination takes direct flights from the UK, and that is Amritsar. Air India operates from London Gatwick and Birmingham in around 11h 28m. For every other destination, UK guests connect through Delhi or Mumbai.

DestinationDirect international routes
AmritsarLondon Gatwick, Birmingham, Dubai, Sharjah, Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Abu Dhabi (from Oct 2026)
GoaDubai, Bahrain, Moscow, Yekaterinburg
JaipurDubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Muscat, Bangkok

For Gulf based guests, Jaipur, Goa and Amritsar all avoid a domestic connection. For guests coming from the UK, Europe, the USA, Canada or Australia, plan on one connection everywhere except Amritsar, and add a buffer day before the first function.

Flight routes and frequencies are correct as of September 2026 and change seasonally. Confirm before booking.

When the train is the better option

For several destinations, rail is faster or more comfortable than flying, particularly for guests starting in Delhi.

DestinationStationFastest from Delhi
AgraAgra Cantt (AGC)1h 40m
RanthamboreSawai Madhopur (SWM)3h 33m
JaipurJaipur Junction (JP)3h 50m
RishikeshHaridwar Junction (HW)around 5h
Jim CorbettRamnagar (RMR)5h 20m to Kathgodam
PushkarAjmer Junction (AII)5h 30m
AmritsarAmritsar Junction (ASR)6h 25m
BikanerBikaner Junction (BKN)7h 50m
JodhpurJodhpur Junction (JU)10h 55m
UdaipurUdaipur City (UDZ)12h 15m
JaisalmerJaisalmer (JSM)13h 40m
GoaMadgaon Junction (MAO)24h 49m

For Ranthambore, rail beats flying outright. The train from Delhi takes 3h 33m, while flying to Jaipur and driving takes over three hours on the road alone.

When should guests arrive?

Tell guests when to arrive rather than leaving them to work it out. Getting this wrong is the most common reason people miss the first function.

DestinationRecommended arrival
AgraSame day is fine from Delhi. Day before from anywhere else
JaipurDay before. Two days if the venue is Samode or similar
JodhpurSame day possible for city venues. Day before for Khimsar
RishikeshDay before
AmritsarDay before for domestic. Two days for UK and overseas guests
UdaipurDay before
BikanerDay before
PushkarDay before, allowing for the road leg from Kishangarh
GoaDay before
RanthamboreDay before, and book the train early in peak season
Jim CorbettTwo days before for guests outside Delhi, given the two hour transfer
JaisalmerTwo days before. With only four flights a day and no nearby alternative, a cancellation has no same day fix

Guests flying long haul should always add a day regardless of destination. Jet lag plus a two hour road transfer on the same day is how people end up missing the mehndi.
